Quaternary Geologic Map of CT & Long Island Sound Basin

This text and accompanying full color map set portray the geologic features that formed during the Quaternary Period, which includes the Pleistocene (glacial) and the Holocene (post glacial). At least twice in the late Pleistocene continental ice sheets swept across the state. Their lasting effects yielded the landscape we occupy today. The map illustrates the geologic history and the distribution of depositional environments during the emplacement of glacial and post glacial surficial deposits and the landforms resulting from those events. The 72 page text provides full documentation including histories of the Eastern and Western Highlands, the Central Lowlands and the histories of the major glacial lakes. Primary map sheet depicting Connecticut's quaternary geology measures 65" x 46", the supporting sheet measures 55" x 39".
